WELCOME TO WEST HADDLESEY

West Haddlesey is a small village 5 miles south-west of Selby, North Yorkshire.

It is home to around 180 people, as well as an Indian restaurant, a post office, and in the neighbouring village of Chapel Haddlesey, a school and a toddler group.

This website provides useful information to residents of the parish and visitors to the parish to keep them informed about what’s going on in and around the the village, as well as providing contact details for members of the Parish Meeting committee and information on past meetings.

About
Haddlesey is a corruption of Athelsey, which comes from Atheling, the name of the last Saxon prince, and ey meaning an island or river.

The George & Dragon / Bangla Cuisine Restaurant

Bangla Cuisine Restaurant is a new Indian restaurant in the George and Dragon pub in the heart of the village. The pub itself is also open for drinks, and runs a variety of events and special evenings each month.

Haddlesey Help Group

A Facebook group (click here to visit) set up to bring residents of both West Haddlesey and Chapel Haddlesey together.

Birkin Butchers

Based in a farm by the church in the neighbouring village of Birkin, and open at weekends (9.30am – 3.30pm Saturday, 9.30am – 1.30pm Sunday) Martin Nunns’ butchery remains open and unaffected during the lockdown for fantastic locally-reared meat.

Roots Produce

Roots Produce (find them on Facebook here are a local supplier who delivery fresh fruit and vegetables to your door.

Alan's Fish

Dean, from Alan’s Fish, will visit the village with his van full of fantastic fish and seafood whilst on his rounds on a Tuesday (around 2:00pm) or Wednesday (around 12:30pm) whenever someone lets him know they want to him to drop by. He can be reached via text on 07546494742.
